Just wondering, how do you guys deal with a major setback. I was triggered so bad by a person that resembled my stalker it just literally blew me away. I don't understand how just one small gesture of someone that reminds me of my stalker can wreck such havok in my mind.
Ever since then I have been in a major trigger, the strongest one that I have experienced in years. Not pretty, to say that I am confused would be a major understatement.

How do you guys find back to yourself when that happens? I know that I am a slave to the past, because I find myself reacting to people that I do not even know in ways as if they knew who I was and then I believe they are going to do the same thing to me than past predators did which caused my PTSD.

Absolutely horrible, had even a faint hint of psychosis yesterday, just hate this condition soooooo much.

It is so nice to be back and talk to someone who really understands what PTSD is all about. It is soooo nice not to be judged for something we most often have absolutely no control over.
I guess I crossed a major hurdle just by talking again.

The so called regular people just don't get it, what PTSD is all about. Only someone with PTSD could possibly understand what a sufferer goes through.

I find that triggers happen no matter what I do, and I do realize that no matter where I am that the stalkers will follow anyhow. Have to carve out my personal space over and over again against intruders.

Then total paranoia hits, you know when you think that everyone around you will end up doing the same thing then predators have done to you before, the victim?

What helps you guys to get out of such triggers faster, is there a way to speed it up?

The last time I was severely triggered I went in the hospital. But, I have learned a lot of grounding techniques to help me stay present, and to hopefully prevent me from needing that again. Dbt skills help a lot to deal with the immediate reaction as well as helping to keep things from becoming overwhelming on a daily basis. You can find a lot of good things on line and even apps to use for the phone. It sucks that we have to deal with these things for the rest of our lives but I truly believe that we can keep symptoms at a manageable level.
