Making The Best Of A Bad Situation : Holiday Edition

I was pregnant at 18 in December and forced to abort for medical reasons. I have started a tradition of honoring her life and the love I had for her by making her part of my current family's Christmas. I have a shell remembrance ornament I put on the tree with my other kids ornaments.

Last year it was hard, because I was seriously mourning her loss and all the things that go with it. This year it was easier. I put it next to her sister's favorite ornament.

I lost her when I was 18, I'm 45 now. My mother and step father didn't let me grieve. I did a support group last year and she won't be forgotten ever. My husband and kids have been supportive of me making her part of our family. And thank you.

@Ellabella44 Loses and gifts. What a special family you have.

My best holiday gift was finding my best companion. She was abandoned, lost stray two days before Christmas, and I had just having moved and was alone. Did not know then that I had PTSD. She is the finest gift. Did not know her name, and had to go through the alphabet to try to find something that resonated. Some one loved this dog before me. I tried everything to get her home. I would love that who lost her had her and she them knew that she is loved, and no, it was not a dumping situation. This dog was a loved companion. Every dayI try to send a message out that she is loved and thank you for her.

Every xmas since I make dog treats and give them out. I almost called her lucky Lucy, but I was the lucky one.

You have a supportive and loving family, we all have to make our own family, clan, somehow when it just wasn't right the first time.
