Poll Medical Leave From Work? Did It Help?

I work with family. They see me struggling as well as my coworkers. Just yesterday one voiced her concern about me. I even have a few that do a few of my duties behind my back so it will get done (usually something I often forget to do). My job is very important to the company. Im quality control and it is very important that I stay on top of everything. I don't feel like I am capable at the moment. My gp put me on effexor xr yesterday because he felt the Celexa I am on is no longer working or strong enough. I'm going to hang in there for the effexor to start working and see if it helps. Another roller coaster ride with side effects :yuck:

I recently took a medical leave for a few weeks. Mostly, it was because my stress level was so high that it was affecting my thinking- I felt like I was going to lose it, start screaming and lose touch with reality, I felt like I was going to have a breakdown unless I stepped away from work. I also wasn't sleeping very well and I work at a high stress job where if I make a mistake it could kill someone. I asked my boss and she was surprisingly supportive.

I was able to gather my thoughts, get some sleep, relax and figure out how to cope. I did a lot of positive things for myself and reached out for help. I went to yoga, got acupuncture, slept in, cooked and slowed down my life. I am so glad I did it and highly recommend it if you feel like you can manage it.

I was working in the family business, so taking a leave whenever I needed to was quite simple. I would imagine, though, that taking one on any kind of regular basis would endanger one's job and possibly lead to being laid off permanently.
