Melatonin?

Melatonin and Magnesium can both increase the occurrence of lucid dreams. If you struggle with nightma...

Wow, that is so good to know about melatonin increasing dreams and nightmares. I had somebody suggest I start taking Melatonin to help with sleep. But after hearing that, I dont think I'll risk it . I already have nightmares on a regular basis and dont fancy the thought of making them any worse than they already are. I think I will just stick with my Prazosin for the time being.
Thanks for the info all those of you who contributed to the above discussion. All good to know.

I've been taking 3mg of melatonin for a few months now for sleep. I haven't notice it affects my dreams. I guess everyone is different. Some nights I have to take trazadone or a klonopin before I can sleep.

Just can't shut my mind off... its awful.

I started taking 10mg Melatonin and I notice I feel drowsy about 1/2 an hour after taking it. I noticed my sleep is more "intense" but I still wake up during the night and I wake up groggy.

Really needing to get some sleep, I'm exhausted. Going to try melatonin

Good luck. Idk about you, but my brain is just not reactive to it. At all. But then again my body doesn't respond to ibuprofen, tylenol or codeine either. I hope you get good results, I've never heard any bad reviews from people relying on it.

Hi, I just started on 1.5 mg. of melatonin and it is really helping me sleep ... I have weaned myself off of my sleeping pills totally which I'm feeling hopeful about. I was told by my psychiatrist that 1 - 3 mg. of melatonin is safe to take per day (at night) but not to take more than this. Good luck! Mary Theresa

I'll second the "melatonin does nothing". Mind you I have racing thoughts, not physical energy that keeps me awake.

As soon as I lay down so many thought flood me about the day I went through, the days that are coming, things I saw, read or watched, it's like my brain makes me watch as it sorts through and files it all away.

I've also been on at least seven different medications for sleep. Most don't work at all, and the few that do, do so only for a short period.

I also already have the "really weird" dreams. I've always had them. Thankfully nightmares are generally few, so I've learned to enjoy them or at least find them entertaining.

I hope melatonin works for you. A good night's sleep can make a world of difference.
