This is a true story. It happened to me a month ago, shortly before my surgery. I was at Wal-Mart, sitting on one of those benches they provide, waiting while Dad was looking for a wheelchair to push me around in (saves energy for me not to have to walk through a huge store). Anyways, an older gentleman, 60s maybe, sits down next to me. I didn't feel like talking, so I tried to pretend I was reading, but I could feel his eyes on me. Finally he says all cheerfully:
"Lost your hair? Cancer?"
So I say "Yup. I'm having chemotherapy right now."
So he says, still all cheery, "Chemotherapy eh? I hear the cure is worse than the disease. Well, better you than me." And he snickers a bit.
I was too weak to kill him...
