Does anyone have any select artists that just help them because the music feels right and means so much to you, you feel less alone with emotional pain, when you listen to it?

For example, my favorites are: Motion City Soundtrack (songs about recovery, O.C.D., anxiety, medicine, hospitalization, addiction, joy, finding oneself), Ace Enders (especially I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business which is an emotional piece), Manchester Orchestra, and Mae/Schematic because they're a little more uplifting.

Music has been an incredible help to me, and I tend to appreciate the real stuff more especially if it has a positive twist but can still relate to deep pain…

I'm just wondering if anyone here can share what REALLY hits home for them (especially if you like indie/alternative/emo/punk/acoustic music because then I'll probably like it a lot too…)

Thanks!!

I've always really loved Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush, even when I was little and didn't really understand the lyrics it moved me. Now that I'm older and the lyrics speak a lot about my own life I think it's only gotten more moving for me.

When I was feeling so very bad, I listened a lot, I mean a LOT, to the final tracks from the "One Hour Photo" movie with Robbin Williams, and also the final song from "Pan's Labyrinth".

Now, my favorite music is the choirs by Arvo Part, like "Kanon Pokajanen". It is so amazing music, very uplifting yet so deep.

I have a lot of songs that make me feel positive, smile or loose myself in peace and calm.

Music is a very powerful force. I tend to choose music has good messages attached to them if I can but sometimes they might just be something chilled.

I wouldn't say I had a definite favourite that I listen to all the time as my taste is vast.

I do like a bit of James Brown, Foo fighters, Red Hot chilly peppers, Ben Howard and Robin Trower to name but a few. :)

best wishes
Saffy :)
