Supporter My Boyfriend Suffers From Ptsd

Ugh. I have been on both sides of this fence. I failed as the supporter. I have PTSD and my most obvious symptom is my grumpiness. My husband is amazingly supportive and understanding but I work very, very hard to keep him included or at least aware of my feelings. I withdraw but do not completely isolate so I cannot speak to that extent- but I can tell you how much it means to have someone in my corner and how guilty I feel for putting him through this. Conversely, I had a serious relationship with a man who is bipolar. He would disappear for days and I simply couldn't handle it. He needed me to just be home when he decided to come back but I felt used and neglected. It is normal to want all of your needs to be met and it is also possible. Mental illness is so complicated because it's hard not to take it personally. Bravo for your efforts. Feel confident in whatever decision you make.
