My Hair Is Falling Out!

Awww Elphaba, I'm so sorry :(. Did the dr suggest blood work to maybe check your thyroid just to rule that. I'm finding that more and more it's left to a patient that has "other" issues to do their own research and then ask for what they need. This can more difficult because for a lot of us assertiveness is not our strong suit, hence using the telephone and leaving messages or email these days can work just as well. I know it can get expensive with additional co-pays and such but seeing as you were just in there I don't see why their office can't just do the blood work.(Of course, I'm assuming it hadn't been done so forgive me if it has.)

The thyroid test is important to get tested for prior to determining if someone has ptsd as hypoglycemia can sometimes mimic some of the symptoms of post traumatic stress. At least that is what the doctor told me, my therapist also warned me of this. Getting the test done will add some peace of mind.

I think just having ptsd even managed well is still stressful, like Anthony has said before, just having ptsd already adds to your stress cup. I know there are a couple other reasons for hair falling out.. I hope everything goes well and your hair grows back.

Thanks. I will bring up again when I go back to my doctor - hopefully the one I usually sees will be back. Never really heard about hypoglycemia so that may be worth checking!

Please let us know. I know it can be so rough. It might be from auto immune disorder, which is what I suffer from. It acts up and from time to time my hair just falls out(and I mean scary handfuls :unsure:) from episodes acting up, usually when my migraine attacks make my stress levels rise and my nutrition/exercise not as well as it should be.

It's always wise to get everything checked though to be absolutely sure.
