Need a bit of advice - Would you stop therapy until everything cools down?

Also in the UK - I am more moderate in my opinions of it. I think there are a lot of issues, but I think generally speaking you can mostly live and practice what you please here. We have an exceptionally weak government which isn’t helping calm tensions. I would suggest staying away from social media for the time being as it tends to be the extreme views of both sides which naturally are inflammatory.

I think it’s very admirable that you want to protect your wife. This is an area I feel strongly about as I do feel that society in the UK is worsening in terms of safety for women and girls. I think we need a massive societal shift which is going to involve lots of different systems and it’s just not going to happen without a very strong government making widescale changes.

I wouldn’t stop going to therapy over this, I’d use it to try and process your feelings and your anger about it all. Maybe there is a way forward for you to be able to voice beliefs about changes that need to be made? I think there are valid concerns to be had and perhaps it would be helpful to work through all these feelings with someone?
Social media or media in general isn't the problem on the streets. However, the unpredictability of this current nastiness from non indigenous idiots (with their helpful idiots from the local university in tow) is a danger.
@DogTirare if you are worried about the state of Christianity in UK, what positive could you do in your congregation if you have one? Are you attending services or would you willing to be a volunteer for example Bible reading or aiding in a food bank?
Regularly attendee, and 2 times a week food bank helper. Which is about all I can manage.
Good news is my liaison spoke to the therapist in question and really happy news! I'm starting with a new one today, one on one, via Zoom.
A safer way of doing things. Incidentally, two 8 x12 windows were smashed in the hospital A&E last night. Police are "investigating".
Wanna bet there won't be a mention in the mainstream media?

Actual turmoil? I wouldn’t need therapy. As my head clears, instantly, in true emergencies. It’s normal life and all its bullshit that f*cks me up. Which is a guide I’ve used in the US, more times than I can count. If I’m f*cked in my head/heart? Things are “normal” and i’m “just” responding as if they aren’t. If everything is clear, simple, easy? Things are seeeeriously kicking off. Even if it’s “just” normal crime, natural disaster, life threatening assault/injury/accident/rape, etc.

I’m EASY in real danger.

I’m f*cked up during nonsense & bulkshit.
If it is needed (say wife gets harassed), training kicks in, and that's usually the problem solved.
"Occasionally" I get the burden of a police interview but never any charges.
BUT, where as I could turn the training off at will before PTSD came back, Now it takes DAYS before I come out of CP mode.
 
Hi @DogTired , I'd keep going to therapy if I were you. I had over 150 counselling sessions but took breaks and always went back. I really wasn't well when I took breaks, shoulda kept going. It sounds like you have alot going on in your mind and that constant "safe" place of non judgement where you can air your thoughts is vital for stability.

Social media is pretty good at creating political echo chambers no matter which kind of ideology. Great that you have found a way to help your local community :). I hope your new therapist is better suited for your needs
