Yep I remember seeing that article as well.
But I also recall that one guy who was fighting overseas in Syria...
Remember he got caught and there was a big deal about it.

Anyhow here's the interview with Jordan Matson, they said he was a marine, but here in the video he say's Army...

There are three bikers there now.

Hmm, it's already been overruled by the ministry of justice.
They now made clear that anyone fighting (alongside the Kurds that is) against ISIS is punishable.
The EU has a firm stance against the Kurds, in particular the PKK.

They don't allow weapons delivery to the Kurds as those may end up in the hands of the PKK.
Meanwhile back in the real world the Kurds are pretty much all that keeps ISIS at bay on the ground.
Turkey's political system under Erdogan is stressed to the max.
They are facing heavy political corruption scandals and see their old enemy striving for independence now suddenly being the "good guy".

Netherland's government fears anyone gaining combat expertise when they are already part of a (semi)criminal organisation.

UK has been refuge to loads of kurds. Seem like good enough folk, although I do feel one of the f*ckers stole my wallet when I was leathered playing him at pool a few years back. Whwre I live there are many, some have even tested the local female produce!

I think we have only one family from the middle east here in our little town in eastern ky, and theyre Jordanian christians. I think IS would have a hard time infiltrating here.

Why does the EU have such a firm stance against the Kurds?

It's a political game with Turkey.
The PKK has been until recently firm socialists of the Moaistic kind under Ocalan.
He has now left that doctrine while in prison.
EU has been afraid of a communist/socialist stronghold on a strategically important place as the Bosporus.

A lot of people don't realise that over half of Turkish/EU citizens are in fact Kurdish.
EU is divided about whether PKK and the Kurds should be considered terrorists.
In Holland a Kurdish ex-pat organisation can be subsidised by the goverment as long as they don't openly support Ocalan.
In Germany just mentioning his name or the group can get a person into trouble. Part of their past with a divided nation.

Tragic as it is, for the Kurds this (ISIS) is a propaganda moment as they've not had before.
Public opinion is changing and with that legislation, given enough time.

On the religious front, Kurds are predominantly Muslims. They differ in their views from traditional Muslims.
Women are (near) equal to men and can hold any function alongside men.
That never sat well with the other more conservative groups in the region.
They are often of a humanistic type of religion, if that's possible.
A fourth-world people without a country of their own. Scattered over several countries they now have deep cultural differences amongst themselves but all dream of an independent Kurdistan.

You know... It may be the worst idea ever (to unload our criminals on our enemies)... But it sure is a tempting thought. Right up until they prosper and get stronger, then come home, or worse stay & network. Come to think of it, though, seeing how that's pretty much how the US, CA, & AU started...? Maybe not such a bad idea afterall. Anyone feel like colonizing the Middle East?

It would certainly be an interesting scene. Millions of orange jumpsuits and pissed off vets in exchange for each act of terror. Sorry guys, you were warned.
