@somerandomguy

However, a lot of people find that marijuana really helps them with anxiety issues. So it's not really that useful to just say "don't use drugs" based on one person's experience.[/QUOTE]
Yes that is true but cannibis can also bring out things they never thought they had like Paranoia for example but in my case it was anxiety and in my personal belief it should be medical cannibis prascribed by doctors

If that is the case, that you have been diagnosed with PTSD solely because of your anxiety attack, then you do not actually have PTSD and have been severely misdiagnosed.

PTSD isn't the result of anxiety attacks, but anxiety attacks might be one symptom of PTSD. Your doctors have it backwards. If you have had severe abuse in your life, lived in a war zone, had your life threatened ... THEN you might develop PTSD. You cannot get PTSD from a marijuana-induced anxiety attack.

Thanks for the "help" you guys have given. Telling ive been wrong all this time I dont know what to believe anymore Ill do this on my own then.

Let me put it this way, @shannon james ... you're going to have a very difficult time finding sympathy on this forum. The rest of us here have been through pretty severe trauma. Speaking for myself, I am personally insulted that someone without severe trauma gets to say they have PTSD when they have not had a traumatic event. To me, it cheapens all the things I've been through in my life.

I wouid urge you to find a new doctor and get a second opinion. You are not going to receive the help you need for your anxiety with that egregious of a misdiagnosis.

None of us can diagnose. P

In order toget the right kind of treatment and tools to feel better - which is your goal and what everyone here wants for you - the diagnosis needs to be correct.

Anxiety alone is really awful. The way to heal from cannabis induced panic attacks is much different than criterion A trauma. Those two kinds of horrible experiences in life impact the brain and body differently.

If we keep giving you advice on how to handle it like PTSD that comes from criterion A trauma, then we would be hindering your recovery.

You could have the major mental health condition of PTSD or other mental health conditions. The best way to know is by working with a therapist and the doctor over a period of time. This would be true for somebody with PTSD from criterion A trauma too.

Based on what you have shared here, neither your symptoms or the type of trauma you have been through seem to suggest PTSD and the doctor you saw sounds like crap.

Many of us here have encountered crappy doctors before too, it really sucks and it is quite painful.

You already know the people you have talked to so far have been less than helpful in getting you connected to other support. They could be wrong on other things too. If you want to take one bad experience with finding a doctor and herapist to mean all people are not worth your effort to reach out for help from, then that is your choice.

Based on your symptoms and the awful impact they are having on your life, getting connected to a good therapist and a good doctor can really help. But if you don't want to do that, then the choice is yours.

You can keep doing what you have been doing and keep getting the results you are getting.

The symptoms you are experiencing now I have a very awful to Indore. I hope that you reconsider your decision to "go it alone" and reach out for help again to a good doctor and therapist.

If you did have PTSD from criterion a trauma this should be an incredibly crucial step. It would involve months two years of intense trauma therapy.

The treatment path that you may have ahead of you for the anxiety you're experiencing now, will hopefully be not as lengthy. It will be hard, but I believe you can do it. You have a very proactive and strong spirit.

Hi Shannon,

I hope you can see that the people here really are trying to help you. It sounds like you had a crappy doctor/therapist in the past as if he based his diagnosis on the drug use alone, then he was incorrect in giving you this diagnosis. Have you had other trauma in your past? Its possible for someone to have experienced trauma, be TOTALLY fine, and then have a non-criterion A stressor which pushes them over the edge. The person then thinks its the lesser stressor which is the cause of PTSD, but it really isn't, as the true source is the earlier trauma. (It can be a bit confusing!) If you haven't experienced any other traumas which qualify you for PTSD, then unfortunately you don't meet the criterion for the disorder as the diagnosing manual (DSM-V) actually excludes diagnosis when all of the symptoms were brought on by drug use alone. (And thank god for that, or else I'd have something like bipolar I on my record as well!)

It doesn't help you to tell you that you have PTSD due to drug use because the treatment and symptoms are a bit different than what we experience. Nobody here is telling you that you aren't suffering, as I believe that you are. It would be akin to one of us going to a forum for something like schizophrenia and thinking that the treatments advised there would help our PTSD. (That is, for those of us who don't actually have schizophrenia.)

I hope you seek out a second opinion so that you can get the right kind of help!

It angers me that a profetional would diagnosis you with PTSD. I would like you to do your best to get a second opinion. This is NOT a dignosis you want. If you belive it and start reading into it your brain can do some really incredible things. Like mess with you.

I strongly encourage you to get a second opinion.
