False click - clicking on an ad just to get credit with no intention of actually doing anything on the resulting website (easily detected by it usually closing within seconds of opening, no follow through, and many other more complex ways).

Side note since I'm here: I'm for what ever works for you Anthony. I would hate to see you throw in the towel and say phuquet. I can't afford to help with the costs. I wish I could. This site has been a Godsend. I thank you, Nichole and the staff again for all you do and put up with.

What are the total costs of running the site? Maybe if we were more aware of the other costs you are defraying the scale of the problem would be clearer.

Is there any money left from the Premium membership payments, or do they only pay for the additional costs of providing the Premium services?

(Personally I have no problem with ads on the site, and if they provide you with a predictable income stream that seems amore sensible way to go)

I looked this up. I understand the basic concept; don't understand it all, how a click is decided, what it will be-false or true. No matter; just wanted to let you know I dealt with my concern.

Hi Anthony, thanks for the blunt and honest update. I don't mind the ads and I would not like to think of you bearing the financial stress involved in keeping the site going, alone.

I have a question. Sorry if the information is there and I haven't seen it, I'm new and trying to find the time to explore the site has been a challenge with starting full time study.

I tried to donate some money earlier in the month, only to discover that I had to sign up for a regular amount. Is there a way that I can donate in lump sums instead of a regular deduction?

There has not been any required subscription in donations here... they are single amounts that are set by default, with the option to enter your own amount.

@Mystery I think I see your confusion. 'Monthly server' is the goal to raise funds to support the monthly server cost. This does not mean it is a monthly donation. You can donate once to the monthly server goal or as often as you wish.

Thanks Lucycat and Anthony, I get it now. That's exactly the misunderstanding that happened re 'Monthly'.

I renewed my premium account and donated today before seeing this thread. My Pay Pal account expired and I was not able to donate since I have to watch the amount of money I donate.

Today I had to sign up for a brand new account. After that, everything was so easy.

I am sorry I have not been able to donate for so long. I will be mindful of this each month as I am able to.

Thank you so much for this site. I so appreciate being a member here as I have reaped so much from being a part of this community.

I sure hope that the donations will be more from now on.

@stenni Anthony has always been upfront with the cost of running the forum. He makes announcements when it changes, needs upgrading etc. Also just click on the link below the donate button called 'view goal details'.

I have not donated because I'm concerned about anonymity. I've never used pay pal. I'm not comfortable having my identity associated with this site. Does anyone know how this works in terms of anonymity? If I donate through pay-pal won't there be a record of me? Is there some other way to donate?

You can choose the anonymous option via donation, which hides your identity on this website and you simply show as anonymous, just like all the others who show as anonymous.
