New Here
I've been told before i have PTSD, the last few months i have went through life with no emotion just doing day to day and if i feel anything its anxiety or overthinking , my ED has also came back. I went to my NP which she gave me the same meds ive taken before for suicide but i dont know if antidepressant is what i need, i dont feel depressed i dont feel anything. I have been through a lot this year especially the last 6 months and it all started with the feeling of dont think about it and now im completely numb.
Should i continue with these meds? I really dont want to unless i really should..I also use mary jane which seems to help me sleep and with some of the bad feelings, i have taken this medication with it but i also am concerned, i dont fully trust SSRIs.

Welcome to the forums!

Being completely numb is actually a sign that what you feel is so overwhelming you are checking out from it. Long term marijuana use messes with seratonin levels and can also cause feelings to be numbed out.

Are you working with a therapist on the PTSD?

Ive never had issues with weed in fact sometimes it helps me feel emotions and step back a little. Im seeing a therapist but its not for PTSD i just started so ill have to bring it up maybe. If its normal than maybe i shouldnt take an SSRI just yet...ive taken it 6 days and i know if i take it longer ill probably have withdrawal and those arent good esp with how im feeling.

PTSD symptoms are still symptoms and SSRIs do help some people with what you describe - both the suidical thoughts and numbness of feelings. I have mixed feelings about meds, and been on SSRIs a couple of times. 6 days is too early to tell if it will help or not, and there is a possibility that it could really help you feel better.

If you still are thinking of stopping, be sure to talk to the prescriber before stopping, and be sure they know about the use of pot. You may not have had problems before, and yeah, you are right that if often does bring feelings to the surface for some people, but it can also backfire overtime and contribute to a flat affect and numbness like you describe.

Therapy can help a lot with PTSD. Trauma therapy often leads to worsing symptoms at first - which is why stopping meds and starting therapy might be a really bad combo.

Yeah i could see that..i get told therapy and meds in the combo is what i should do by her. It says on the bottle weed can increase drowsiness ive taken this med 3 other times and drinking seems to effect me a lot more on them than anything else, they did help last time i took them for 6 months ish but had no therapy, i tend to go easy on the pot when taking them as well to not over due it i prefer micro-dosing. I could mention this to my therapist but i worry if i tell them too much i will get into trouble and i dont want that either thats why i made this discussion. I do like my new therapist so far though, im ironically a PSY major.
