New To Forum: Former Police Supervisor

Hi,
I am new to the forum. I was a police supervisor but retired a few years ago with a PTSD diagnosis. I worked for a horrible agency and community who offered no support and treated me as if I had done something wrong. Had to fight to get the retirement benefit, lawyers, doctors etc and eventually prevailed. To those military guys seeking a police job? Don't. Do anything else but that. Be a fireman.

Hi Sebastian :hello:

Wecome to the forum. Was good to meet you in chat yesterday. You might want to check out my thread about returning jobs that caused PTSD. My PTSD was also caused in my role at work, and I can relate to the fight that you have been through for support and recognition there. I'm still going through it now, and it's tough.

I'm glad that you have found the forum and hope that you will find it supportive and helpful.

Nicky

Hi Sebastian,

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about the problems you are facing with your employer.

Sure you will find some great advice and support on here.

Look forward to seeing your around the forum

Helena

Nice welcome?

The first thing I post, an introduction, I get a notification that I violated some rule about using an improper title on my posting. Now isnt that nice, if that is a taste of things to come I have a suggestion as to what the moderators can do with their forum, and its not nice. Did I use the right title for this posting? I wouldnt want to violate any special rules now.

P****-off a cop with PTSD - good going! LOL.

Don't worry about the rules thing, its actually nothing personal, although it may feel like you've been purposely attacked, you'll get used to them and learn to 'hold the line'. Frustration is a huge component of PTSD, sounds like you're all to familiar with it, been there, wish I didn't have to keep going back but sometimes the cycle repeats itself.

If you need to get things off your chest you've come to the right place.

(I'll leave any gushy crap out.) Welcome, hope you come back often.

Sabastian Haff,

I know when you have PTSD, it can feel as if the world is out to get you. Every little thing feels so major. I would guess that most of us on this forum have received a similar warning of infraction at least once. I know I have received more than one. You are angry and hurting, but I would encourage you to look past that, look over the rules, and try again to connect.

Sabastian Haff, a big part of this forum is respect. It can be difficult to be respectful when you have PTSD, but it is important. The people on this forum, whether carers or sufferers have been through a lot, just as you have. They deserve your respect. Especially the editors who spend so much time to keep this forum safe and put so much of themselves into helping others.

Hi Sebastian!

Having been in the Military and then going into Law Enforcement I totally agree with you!

Worth Sticking With It

Hi Sebastian,

It's worth sticking with it because this is a great group of people. Don;t let the rule things scare you off. My fitst post I got dinged for two infractions! It's hard to remember to capitalize every word of the title 'cause we're used to writing "it" and "the" in small letters. You'll get the hang of it. Welcome.

Gina

I got spanked on my first post for the same reason.. some improper title crap..

Now, Sebastian, take a moment to think about all those times when your underwear was a little too tight and you constantly felt the need to correct your subordinates' paperwork.

In fact, if you were my sergeant, you even complained about me putting a line through my friggin Z's and my 7's... as if it may have compromised national security.

I once hated the rules here, now I think they're the best thing ever. I'll pay any moderator 5 bucks to give him another whack for me.

And by the way, Welcome.
