Did anyone else see this...Nicolle Wallace joked on The View when she sees Sarah Palin she has PTSD....I am horrified celebrities are using PTSD in this context!

As usual, real life disabilities and differences in thinking are used as jokes or stereotypes. Autism and schizophrenia often bears an even stronger brunt when it comes to jokes and stigma, but this looks the same.

I'd really just ignore it, as offensive as it might be. No need to give these idiots attention (although I'll admit, I REALLY don't like it when people just use such terms that they've never experienced).

I used to like Rosie, but not so much anymore. She's the one who posed the question in a joking sort of manner. I wish someone would put her in her place like she tends to do with the rest of the world. The view used to be somewhat decent. Now its just a bunch of catty arse b!tches who bicker amongst themselves. Way to make women look good, ladies!

I don't let stuff like that rock my world. If I reacted to that, I would also have to react to every female/blonde comment, comments pertaining to regions in the country to which I live, or jokes about my job. I don't care. It doesn't define who I am therefore I don't give it a second thought. When did we get so sensitive as a whole? Although the comment was perhaps in poor taste, I didn't fine it reprehensible or really offensive. Rosie asked whatever her name is if she got PTSD symptoms when she saw Palin. She commented that she lost her color and maybe started to perspire or something... ? ... Who cares??? Those are symptoms I get when I become tense. It is ludacris that Sarah Palin could cause that in someone, but none the less, those are actual symptoms. Just my opinion though. I don't mean to disregard anyone else's feelings on the subject.

TOTALLY agree, Solara. I used to like The View and now it's probably the most annoying thing to me on the planet. Women should build each other up and support one another, like a sisterhood. They waste their time tearing each other apart to build themselves up and have the most ridiculous conversations... ever. It's that kind of 10th grade cliche behavior that causes a lot of women feel threatened by other women... and unnecessarily. Can we just have Regis and Kathie Lee back?

Anyway, as far as using PTSD inappropriately, I guess people have been doing this with a variety of illnesses for a long time. Example: "Blah-blah-blah is so OCD, because they have to have a clean bathroom." I take it with a grain of salt. The only circumstance, where I actually freaked out was when a young soldier came into my house and used the term "rape" in a joking matter. I gave him a strong warning that that term wasn't to be used in my house and he would be permanently banned if he used it again. Then I threw something at him.

Okay, looking bad, not the best reaction on my part and probably dangerous, especially since it was my ex's work buddy on post, but when you're young, pissed and 22, what do you do?

Not funny or acceptable (I haven't watched it), but I agree that Sarah Palin is a traumatising person to listen to. People need to learn to word things better.

Oh I used to love Regis and Kathy Lee! I am not a big fan of morning/daytime programming, but I do like Kathy Lee's show with Hoda. Sometimes they talk about crazy stuff, but it makes me laugh. I'm not really a fan of that other women's panel show, either. Its the one with Sara Gilbert and Sharon Osborne and a few other women. I'm not sure if its on the air anymore though.
