Not Sure If I Should Stay On My Anti-depressants

About a month and a half ago, I went to a psychiatrist since I had been feeling very low for about 3 months. He told me I had a mild form of clinical depression and put me on Wellbutrin (Bupropion.) He started me off with 1 100mg tablet, then it went to 2 of those a day, now he wants to up me to 300mg. I'm on the 200mg currently and it makes me feel sick. I'm dizzy and often nauseous. I'm not even sure if they are working, but they certainly make me feel like crap :( Has anyone else experienced these issues? If so did you continue to use the medication? I'm wondering if I should gradually get off them before my body gets too dependent. I plan on asking my pharmacist what to do if I do want to quit them, just wondering what others have done in this situation.

Talk to your doctor. It sucks, but it's not unusual to need to switch anti-depressants. I recently switched to Wellbutrin after trying Paxil for a month. Not because of side effects, just because it wasn't helping.
Good luck.

@vivaladawn, a month should be enough that you aren't having the jitter effect as badly; it sounds to me like you are having side effects that you can't tolerate, and you'd like to come off the drug. It's a medium-speed kind of taper - talk with your psych about discontinuing. He may suggest trying something else, and you can talk to him about whether that's the right option for you right now. But I'd recommend doing it with the psych instead of the pharmacist, because ultimately your psych needs to be keeping close track of your reactions.

I am having seriously crappy side effects on the Paxil after three days at 20 mg. Actually wondering if I should go to er for my fast heart rate. Of course my anxiety is also out of control so it could be that. But regardless, very bad side effects so far for me...how is the new med working out for you?

The Wellbutrin's working great. I started to feel better after about 3 weeks on the 300 mg dose. I was on 150 mg for 2 weeks before that, which did nothing. I didn't notice any side effects at all - unfortunately weight loss was not a side effect for me!

There was no dramatic difference in my mood, I just started feeling gradually less crappy.
