"not To People Like Us" - Seriously?

They investigated and the judge let these people off because he would go golfing with the husband. So sad.

There are too many examples of this! But it happens with non-wealthy too (my story but to nit talk about my story) on Dr Phil back around maybe 5 or 6 yrs ago, maybe more, a girl named Kalyee (spelling?) 3 yrs old said to her mom and grandmom "Daddy touched my pee pee" and also had a 2 centimeter tear on her labia. Yes her mom failes the coaching part of the lie detector because she was video tapping it and sorta encouraging it all but Jeremy, the father, failed every single question on the lie detector and his girlfriend was preg with a boy at the time. I believe he did this in a total of 3 or 4 shows. He reported it to the local CPS as so did the mother a few times and the judge stated ahe woukd have to go to jail or give the dad the daughter for unsupervised visitation (id go to jail first) but she didnt. I looked up for a follow up on the story, he's NEVER been arrested for it, he was arrested for having child porn on his PC, porn mags where their at the time i believe 3 or 4 yr old son can see them and the house was so disgusting. But to date, i havent read a follow up where he was ever charged with molesting and/or raping his daughter Kaylee. They arent wealthy. CPS is over worked and under staffed BUT they need to do a better job here in the US!

In the beginning -4 years ago- my sons docs reported his abuse no matter how much I asked them not to.

Over the past few years, they've learned what I already knew... My ex is untouchable (wealthy, white, & educated), and every time they report something? My son comes in with worse. They are now very much on-side with both not reporting, and getting my son help on the sly.

If not for the fact that there is a book by the same name, I would question whether the name of the group necessarily has to be about social class. But under the circumstances you are probably correct. And yes, abuse can happen in any part of society.

I just want to point out that there are wide ranges of groups in society that "no one" (in quotation marks because there are many exceptions) would believe abuse could happen in. My family was neither wealthy nor poor, but they were well educated, members of a religious group that "no one" would think abuse could happen in, socially aware... and I think the effects on a person of being abused in such a dynamic are in fact different. The cognitive dissonance is incredible. So I would see a title like the one the group chose more as validation that yes, in fact it happened and no, I'm not going crazy.

And I still don't feel like I can go into any detail about what I am talking about, hence my vagueness. This stuff still has a stranglehold on me. On an anonymous forum. Arrgghhh.

Thats horrible to know that your son is in the "lion's den" and not able to do anything about it without being "sly"! But thats the nature of this country! Why in the hell do we have women's rights for children; Roe vs Wade (though in personally against it, thats not my point) but dont have men's right to children. What if a guy gets me prego, what if i wanted to abort it (would never happen, but im likely so against it cuz i cant have kids) but the father of the baby didnt want me to abort it and wants to raise it himself without any help from me? He doesnt get a say and thats not right. Its the same in a divorce situation, mom always gets full cusody but dad only gets visitation, every weekend if lucky, and mom has to be PROVEN VERY horrible and if in a place to do so can pay for silence. Did Roe vs Wade replace men's rights? I understand that the women has to carry the child to term but after that, she can sign away parental rights to the father but if a father of an unborn baby took a mother of his unborn to court it would be tossed out due to Roe vs Wade, the mother could CHOOSE to have the child and sign away parental rights but dont have the legal abligation to. If we have the legal right to abort a child up to a certian time then why doesnt the father of the unborn have a say in it. Or the other way, accident by both, mom wants it but father doesnt; instead of taken the father to court and drag the child through it all for child support when the father wants nothing to do with the child, have him sign away parental rights and move on. Now im not saying a dead beat dad is justified; i feel if you want to see the child then you need to help support the child and even if you dont want to see the child; BUT theres no denying that Roe vs Wade in this country isnt perfect or that this country isnt corrupt in many ways! All i have to say is Benghazi!

Im not trying to cause a fight, just proving a point that this country is far from not corupt!

The titling just rubs me the wrong way. Can't say why, but it does. It feels exclusionary and rather judgmental. Could be hitting a sore spot or something inside of me though.

I don't know about any of the rest of the statistical side of the argument except from personal experience, growing up upper-middle class, even the cops didn't touch it - said there was no law to apply as no one was bleeding, just drunk and menacing. As an adult, I saw children from all segments of society walk through the doors of our center, but that's just one center and not doctor's offices. I can say that reports are taken seriously here, just not sure about the reporting.
