Thank you for all of your replies. I was just going to let this sit, but you all gave me the courage to speak up. I sent her a quick little email (I know, it was cowardly compared to a phone call) saying something seemed to be wrong with the check and asking if there was a better time for me to cash it. She immediately called and was very apologetic. She is in the process of switching banks, though all of her checks had cleared, and had her remaining funds transferred to the new account. She paid me, and then some, and apologized many times.
I'm not very good at confrontations with those who have significant sway over me. Thank you all for your encouragement.
