Hi,

I'm a trans man based out of Philadelphia, hoping to find some kind of in-person support. I find the internet easier to compartmentalize. The only Philadelphia groups I've seen are either for veterans (I'm not a veteran) or for women (I'm not a woman). Are there any more generalized ones? Anyone want to make one?

I would like to attend one as well and I live about 30 minutes outside Philly. Does The William Way Center or Mazzoni Center have anything?

They both have queer-category specific groups (like a group for gay men over 50 or transgender individuals) but nothing like, "Folks with PTSD, general." (And since I was hugely triggered at the last trans group at Mazzoni - asked out right if I enjoyed my abuse - I have made the decision not to return.)

If you have found anything, please let me know. :)

I attended a support group for transgender youth at The Attic for 14-23 year olds at 7pm on Thursdays, but it was more like a hang out space for younger teens where mental health might get a few minutes' talk along with basics like How to Decide if You Want Hormones and How to Come Out to Your Friends. Safeness to discuss mental health depended on the crowd that showed up that night, and some of the people who attended the group discussed triggering content (like drugs, alcohol, sex, or self-harm) without warning and without thinking about how it would affect others in the room. I know of several people who had very, very bad experiences there, but I never asked the specifics. I am sure the group is very helpful for transgender youth who don't have PTSD, but for me it was not a good place to get intimate.
