My sweet daughter put up the Christmas tree and decorations last night. I was so tired she said, “Don’t worry about it, I got this!”

The Plastic Stick of Sadness.

One of my Aunties ONLY buys “Charlie Brown Trees”. Her “best” one? Had only 1.5 branches, a half a meter tall “trunk”, and 6 needles… placed awkwardly. Drooped nearly to the floor. DID hit the floor, once the star was added to the “top”. It wasn’t a repurposed branch, or sapling. She’s quite keen on buying the saddest and most disreputable example available for sale. True tree. Looking like a jellyfish trying to run a marathon, on land.

It somehow transcended lipstick on a pig, to true glory.

She’s come close to the “best tree ever” a few times since, but it’s still the title holder.

I come from a family with an odd sense of humor.

No more sleeping on the floor in a pile of my kids' old blankets like a dog for me!

It was delivered in bits. Putting it together was pretty simple, in theory, but all the strength has gone from my arms and I'm panting and sweating like I just finished the special, four-course Christmas menu in a brothel.

Cheap, crappy imitation stove arrived!

Literally the cheapest one available, but it's a sort of faint ghost of what I always wanted.

Wood stoves make a domicile slightly easier to visit for Santa, but it's full-on fireplaces with their chimneys that he likes best (and which are highly inefficient in comparison).
