Post Traumatic ... what?

Hi @RiverDog Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to see original post was misread as passive-aggressive.

From what I've gathered, the insular culture on the forum seems to be earnest and straightforward.
I don't know what the culture of your friends of family might look like, but it seems to be easily misunderstood or misinterpreted here.

I won't blame you for meeting passive-aggressive misinterpretations with passive-aggression.
Hope you can move past this and enjoy the space.

We all experience the site differently. That's your experience. It's not mine.
Do I agree with everyone on bere? Nope. Do I interact with everyone on here? Nope.
Do I communicate in the same way as everyone else on here? Nope.
We all just bring our good parts and not so good parts on here. And essentially, we're all people trying to find something to help.
We may all get things wrong sometimes or misread things or project things or simply not agree/not like another. And that's all okay.
but it seems to be easily misunderstood or misinterpreted here
Here? Or anywhere really. People be people and do people things.
I won't blame you for meeting passive-aggressive misinterpretations with passive-aggression.
Said passively aggressively?!
(I am saying that a bit flippantly/jovially)

but it is not stress. It is replaying, retrieving, renewing, recycling ... stress is a just a symptom of that
Stress can refer to many things strain, irritation and inconvenience. PTSD is a irritation and inconvenient that can cause strain. The main symptom of PTSD is stress. All the illnesses that PTSD causes is stress based. You can call it Post Recycling trauma if you want. I was just trying to explain why they use stress in the definition of PTSD or your PTRRD.

ModNote : Okay. I’m calling it. 72hr temp ban to regulate yourself, read around the forum …and the Community Constitution… to decide if you want to be here, or not. We are NOT a Reddit dumpster fire of “the most controversial wins”. We’re simply not. We’re a community of people with PTSD, from myriad trauma histories, personalities, backgrounds, countries/cultures, attempting to better our own lives… & help others, when & where we can, as we can. Conflict IS appreciated, on site. Diverse opinions ARE appreciated on site. Flailing for attention? Trolling? Nonsense? Is not.

You are ABSOLUTELY welcome back, in a few days, if you want to be here.

Your choice.

The term PTSD was coined for the military. "Stress" makes no sense in the context of a world in which everything is stressful.
The stress is not a singular term, it is related to the traumatic term, "traumatic stress". Post is after. Disorder is when you have endured so much traumatic stress that it now affects functioning areas of your being, your life, that it is then classified as a disorder.

Post (after the fact) Traumatic Stress (a state of being from trauma outside the normal scope of life issues) Disorder (when it now affects your ability to function, socialise, etc).

That is the simplicity of the disorders name.

In relation to exposure therapies, exposure therapies are about the best you can throw at PTSD to help change the disorder component, combined with something that works to reduce any mental torture one is experiencing.
