Prazosin?

I've been on prazosin for2.5 years. I take mg at bedtime along with 30mg mirtazipine. I feel like the prazosin is no longer working. Flashbacks are back to being stronger however there are fewer as I keep stresss levels lower. I take propranolol when needed but I think I may talk to dr about trying without prazosin for awhile it makes my heart race and prazosin can have negative affect on sinuses. Has anyone else lost effectiveness of prazosin?

I've been taking prazosin for 2 years for nightmares. I don't know if it helps me sleep because I take 600 mg of seroquel with it as well as klonipin. As @Phoenix(not) said, seroquel is the sleep of the dead, and the prazosin ensures that I don't have any nightmares.

i am very much like you, I feel nothing actually works completely to make me sleep. I have tried all the regulars, mixed many and now have prazosin, ambient and clonasepam at night. Sometimes works, sometimes not. Wish there was a sure knock me out because the idea of getting a good sleep gives me anxiety from about 7pm onward. Any ideas? I do take tried and true Wellbutrin early in the day.

I did take it for while, and it did help alleviate the nightmares. It didn't help me sleep, and it caused my blood pressure to drop enough that I always felt unwell, otherwise, I would still be open to the idea of taking it. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be in the cards for me.

Prazosin helped with my nightmares for a couple years, then slowly stopped working. Now I take clonidine for nightmares and have been on that for more years. It's the same kind of med for high blood pressure, which I also don't have, so, yes, you have to be careful getting out of bed. I also have problems with insomnia, so it's often hard for me to figure out when to take it, because if I take it too soon before getting to sleep, it doesn't work on the nightmares. I'm allowed up to 0.4 mg a night, though if I take that much, I am very tired the next day. So it's often a choice of having the nightmares and being more alert the next day or no nightmares and being tired the next day. Sigh. I go back and forth on it.
