@worthymisfit so true.I have celiacs and and hypothyroidism. Took me 10 years to get a diagnosis and I know when the first symptoms started and it was right around the time I started dissociating really bad. You have to have the gene, but trauma will activate a dormant gene. I am pretty sure high levels of DHEA were there result of my last two pregnancy losses. Sadly that was it for me as that was years of saving for the fertility meds I needed to be able to concvie at all.

Stress and the hormones that it releases do play havoc in the long term with the immune system, digestive system and cardiovascular system. There are all sorts of articles that link various physical ailments to stress. Although the term PTSD is not used, with PTSD being linked to the stress response, it isn't too far off base to assume that people who have a hair trigger reaction to stress would suffer a greater degree of stress related illnesses.

As you read here, there are so many members with autoimmune disorders. In addition to sharing a common ground with our PTSD symptoms, we also seem to share common ground with a lot of physical ailments related to stress.

@worthymisfit Yes, it helps, thanks! I'll read up on it. Unfortunately, my doc isn't very open-minded and I've considered finding a new one, but at the same time she's very understanding and helpful when in comes to PTSD and my struggle with employment, so I'll stick with her for now.

From what she has told me and the medial studies I have read, it takes about 24 months for someone at stage 3 to get to normal function with supplement therapy. Patience...

Hang in there!

Thanks everybody. This has given me a lot of food for thought and helps me by not feeling quite so alone with my frustrating body. I am currently sick again with another infection, but thinking I will ask my doc about adrenal fatigue - I guess I'll find out just how open-minded he is!
