i don't even know what to say. I never know what to say, I don't know how to open up.
I've closed off so much I can't get my feelings or thoughts out even about everyday life.
I'm looking to find friends who understand. I just feel so alone.

Welcome to the forum
What you just said was saying something, and it's enough for now.
It will all come a little at a time,and slowly.

And that's OK.

You will find a lot of great people to hang out with here.
Your post reminds me of what I felt like when I first came here.

@Gemz

Since joining this forum last week I have read many threads and articles and found that many others on this site do understand. I felt the same way you describe before I joined, alone, not able to share any longer with family or friends. My standard reply has become, "Nothing new to report," when asked how I'm doing.

But here, understanding abounds. Encouragement too.

(I don't know why an ad keeps popping in. It's not mine.)

You probably don't have an "ad-blocker" on your computer, that's why you get the adds popping up.

As for the site being helpful, it certainly is, it's helped me a great deal since I joined and that wasn't long ago either, good luck.

I have found this site very helpful also. I started my trauma diary. In the diary I was able to write even more details about what happened in my childhood than I was able to tell my T. My T is aware of this and understands why and is very supportive with me doing this. Having others who have gone through the same type of thing makes it easier to open up without fear of judgement or shocking someone with your story. I hope you find it helpful for you too. The first step is usually the hardest and you've taken that step already. Welcome. :tup: ;)

Welcome @Gemz. That "alone" feeling is familiar to a lot of people here, including me.

This is one of the few places I've found where people understand and are going through the same things. My therapist is great, but outside of those times it makes a big difference to know there is a whole community here that accepts and relates to things I thought were only happening to me.

Hope you find support and help here.
