Dear Nicholette,
There is something about how the forum works that I don't quite understand yet. I hope you can help me. When I click on some peoples' names, a screen comes up that says something like I don't have sufficient priviledges to do that? I am really confused. I can link that way to some people and not others. Have I done something wrong? I'm sorry. If I have, please tell me what I did wrong. Wrong is not a safe place for me to be. Sorry to bother you with this.:dontknow:

Mercy I dont think it is that we have done anything wrong at all.

I think it is because the person we are trying to interact with is new and a moderated member.

I think it protects the forum in case they are not who they seem.

(I dont know for sure but I dont think its us so much)....

Also if it is someone that is new; we may not have been on long enough to be able to interact with them as "safely" as perhaps someone that has been here longer maybe and is further along in their recovery. (I use the word "safely" there loosely, I couldnt think of the right word)

be safe Mercy, I really dont think it is that you are wrong in any way ...it is cool

Sounds to be the most likely answer. Mercy, next time you go to do this check if the member has "moderated" under their name. If this is the case then fin's answer is correct. If you still struggle with it feel free to PM me.

Yes, new members are protected as a consequence even from full members. It is just the way the system works as a result of moderating new members, it is not intentionally set as such. New members had to moderated heavily in order to reduce spam... ie. it is no good moderating them from say posting... if they can PM others with spam or leave other issues around the place; hence why they are simply heavily moderated and given next to no permission without it being approved before the public view it. It really does just stop spam in its tracks here 99.9% of the time.
