Quetiapine/seroquel?

I saw a new psychiatrist today, who recommended I be taken off Seroquel and be prescribed Effexor (I think) instead added to the Mirtazapine.

The Seroquel is making me feel so tired and sluggish, so I will be glad to try something else, although I know the Mirtazapine alone isn't enough.

So the Psych's report will go back to my doc at the counselling centre and hopefully she'll agree.

I've tried so many diff meds psych found highly amusing. Mitazipine made me fat & effexor made me suicidal :( boo hiss! Lol!! Think after coming off anti d I now actually still need one. Feeling so so low. Considering giving in & going back on mitazipine. Even if I turn back into an elephant :s xxx

Maggiemay, I've put on a few kilo's with Mirtazapine and have to really struggle with being careful with my diet and to exercise to help keep the weight from piling on. It's hard. My doc said I've done well not putting on more than I have, so I guess the control issues I have come in handy for some things.

But, I know being stabilised on medication is more important than my weight. Although I hate feeling fat and disgusting.

My psychiatrist was concerned last week about my lack of self esteem and issues about my weight. In fact the way she was talking was that she believed I had some minor kind of eating disorder. So I think that's one of the reasons she's suggested Effexor as that doesn't cause weight gain, which I'll discuss with my doc at the counselling centre this Thursday.

I hope you go okay if you go back on the Mirtazapine.

I've been trying to get off Seroquel for months. My illness already has extreme fatigue, I don't need anything to exacerbate it. Unfortunately, they haven't been listening. It had been helping me not wake up at night, but, lately I've still suffered bouts of insomnia despite taking it. I don't wake up until around 11 or later. That is unusual for me. Recently the nurse practitioner actually went up in the dose. Thankfully, this week, I will see the Psychiatrist too. According to the nurse practitioner, the seroquel shouldn't effect me into the day.

My husband is on serequel to sleep and to stop him from having hallucinations. He is having hallucinations again so I think he needs his meds upped. He has a appointment at the end of November.
I wish you the best with getting your meds adjusted.

I was given something called Restavit by my chemist.....it is an antihystamine, and works a treat.....makes me really really groggy for up to 12 hours afterwards though.

I had really bad nightmares on Seroquel, but never on Restavit, in fact, I've NEVER dreamed whilst on Restavit.

Funny thing is, Seroquel is meant to help with stopping nightmares/dreaming. Weird.

I'm on a very low dose of it myself to help with sleep (only been on it a few weeks) and whilst I can't normally remember my dreams most of the time, I can now... and they're 'busy' dreams - the ones that make you feel like you've actually been up doing something all night. Helpful, LOL

I was prescribed to one Quetiapine 30mg tablet at night for Manic Depression and insomnia. I couldn't be happier, my anxiety and depression was significantly reduced. My energy and mood dramatically improved. And I get great sleep every night and I wake up refreshed and ready to start my day. Also, lt gives me the most vivid, wonderful dreams of all time. Taking this along with therapy from a psychologist is highly recommended for a successful outcome.

Just been put on this by psych to help with flashbacks/anxiety/night time issues/mood swings. = atypical anti-psychotic with mood stablising properties. Building up very slowly as have a history of having low tolerance of meds, becoming very nauseous, leading to me trying a ridiculous number of anti-depressants unsuccessfully. So far not noticed a considerable difference during day, but getting to sleep quicker. But not at a therapeutic dose yet. Anyone have any experience of it? Thanx :)x
xx

Seroquel helped for the first 3 days, I started at 100mgs. I was told to take 200mgs after reporting that it was no longer helping me sleep. At 200 I would get stuck in this in between sleep stage where I would hallucinated vividly. So I was taken off of it cold turkey, and had flu like symptoms for 2 full weeks.

I never found any medication that helped and in fact went into a state of psychotic mania from SSRI's.

Recently I've tried Medical Marijuana, and I've only used it twice for 3-4 days each time and only before sleep. It has worked flawlessly and for more time now than I can say anything else has. Plus I haven't had any side effects other than clear thoughts, better focus, deep sleep and no dreams. Seems to keep me calm and happy for several days after usage. First time it took several days to come out of hyper-vigilance, and I waited until I was hyper-vigilant to use it again, same thing after a few days no more day time symptoms. I don't know how it works but it shuts down the constant slide show of shocking events that make me hyper vigilant paranoid and sleepless. I can't say it makes me tired or that I fall asleep any differently it's just that when I do I stay asleep and I wake up refreshed and wide awake.

I hadn't had a night with over 4 hours of sleep in years before this, now I get about 7 hours a night. It's been 2 months since I started MM, if I am experiencing the munchies it's not noticeable after Seroquel. I was like a psychotic baleen whale on that stuff consuming everything in my psychotic path. I've only had psychotic experiences while taking SSRI's and anti psychotics.

If you find it works don't ever abuse it and continue counseling. Keep to the high cbd stuff with as low thc as possible at least that's what I was told to do.
