So my friend from Sweden was on a field op that's why he didn't answer his Facebook message, but he just got back to me. He said he doesn't think Sweden's system is functional at all, and this is the reason why. He thinks punishments are too soft. That said, he does NOT support capital punishment, but not why you might suspect. He thinks capital punishment is an easy way out for criminals and they should be subjected to hard manual labor for the rest of their life instead, building back up the communities they tore apart (under the watchful supervision of the prison system of course). He thinks violent offenders should be subject to a lifetime of corporal punishment as rehabilitation has proven over an over again not to work in Sweden. This is the opinion of someone who lives there and works there, not from the hopeful eyes of an American who wants a system like this to work so badly.
