I read an article on how flashbacks are part of the healing process. I have been flooded with them lately and it has been so hard. But reading that article gave me hope. Maybe after I deal with these floods of emotion and memories I will see a light. Maybe I will be free one day. Maybe we will all be free one day.

Gentle support, Wolvescry. May the rainbow be worth the walk through the rain.

Many years down my own recovery path I solidly believe that the flashbacks are part of the healing process. Every purging leaves me a little more free and allot more grateful. I am beginning to believe that freedom is truly possible and fully worth the price.

Hope springs eternal. Drink deeply of the cooling waters.

Inspiring, and well said. Both of your prose, above, moved me to find and quote a portion of Maya Angelou's poem,

"On The Pulse Of The Morning:"
(...)
Here, root yourselves beside me.

I am the Tree planted by the River,
Which will not be moved.

I, the Rock, I the River, I the Tree
I am yours--your Passages have been paid.

Lift up your faces, you have a piercing need
For this bright morning dawning for you.

History, despite its wrenching pain,
Cannot be unlived, and if faced
With courage, need not be lived again.

Lift up your eyes upon
The day breaking for you.

Give birth again
To the dream.
