Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

"The Gun" which is an un-put-downable Pulitzer Prize winning history of the AK-47 and how the assault rifle changed the world;
"The Revenant", after which I watched the film and am still still shaking my head over it;
Marukami's "1Q84" which I gave up on after 600 pages;
and a biography of Sir Richard Burton by Edward Rice.

Pick of the week goes to Chivers and The Gun

The Art of War by Sun Tzu
Sun Tzu says that it is better not to fight than to be involved in a conflict, but if you are going to have to fight, then you have to do it to win, and these are the various strategies, often brutal, that will get you that result.

To the mystification of both my brother and I as we were recovering my mom's burned/damaged items... this was among them. To which she replied, "Oh YES, I need another copy it is my favorite book." That explains a lot.

The Mirror Thief, Martin Seay, Melville House Publishing, 2016.

Hmm. Really interesting but I haven't read it all yet p. 238 of almost 600 pages. I hope it keeps up it's intensity by stealth. I am intrigued at this point with the plot. Three stories weaved into one... but haven't got to where they join yet. Very olde worlde language and lots of new words I have to stop and look up. I have thrown it down and read a couple of other books because it's not the usual read where I turn the page and distract. I have to be in this or if I do get distracted and turn even 2 pages...go back and find somewhere before I started reading without reading. I hope it is worth it. Shall let you know and more to the point what it is all about! :cautious::p
