Ready to share

I’m glad I found this forum. I’ve been looking for a place to share my experiences for a while now and this looks like the perfect place to do just that.

I’m a 36 year old female and I’ve been suffering from anxiety and panic disorder for most of my life.

5 years ago I was in a very unhealthy relationship for 2.5 years which ended with my partner losing his life to a heroin overdose. I found him in the morning, passed away on the couch in the home that we shared.

Some time after this experience I was diagnosed with PTSD. I’m working with a therapist who has helped me so much. She’s also helped me identify trauma that has occurred to me in my childhood and teens which I was not aware of. It’s been a wild ride!

I was thinking I might like to start a trauma diary as I feel the need to document my experience and perhaps by my doing so I can help others or simply feel not alone. I don’t know anyone who has gone through what I have been through and that can leave me feeling very lonely, even though I have a supportive husband, great friends and a loving family.

Will see where this leads me but just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for having me here :)

Hi Ready to Share and welcome to the forum :) Starting a diary here sounds like a good idea. I'm sure lots of people will be able to relate to what you've been through.

I'm sorry for all you've been through, but glad that you are getting help :)

Welcome! So sorry for what you have been through, but glad you now have a support system as you learn to cope with the past trauma. The roller coaster hills and dips hopefully will become less drastic as you progress. The diary sounds like a great idea and could connect you to others who have had similar experiences. Prayers for peace and continued progress.

Thanks so much :) it’s amazing how much progress I have made but there’s still a few things going need to work on which I’m really focused on improving x
