Other Sciatica nerve pain

I started out going to a chiropractor once a week, now I go once a month and I have no more sciatica. I have disk degeneration in my lower back, from exrays that were taken. The chiropractor I go to has 2 tables, one for the lower back and one for the upper back and neck. She even advertised in the yellow pages that she handles sciatica and she does. I have not had to do anything other than this that I know of, however, some of my meds might help with all this as well. I do take Gabapentin, but for mental health reasons and numbness in my hands. I suppose it helps my back too, I assume. I take it mostly before I go to bed, so as not to be affected by it with the tiredness during the day.

I've just recently been to a Exercise Physio and she was fantastic. Much better than the ordinary Physio.

My main reason for going to her was that I am doing a lot of walking (as in designated walking) and it seems to have aggravated my particular back injuries.

She said hanging from the monkey bars at the park was a great exercise. As was swimming, yoga, pilates and some stretches.

She advised with the yoga, stretches and even the swimming - it depends entirely on what sort of injury you have and whether or not you should be stretching outwards or inwards. Eg Breast stroke is bad for me bc of the frog kick with that stroke. But freestyle is fine.

It was an interesting visit and she laid out a plan to keep me moving. I tried a Cortisone injection just before Christmas and still have the hangover side-effects (mental) from that. So not going back for another one...

If you can check out this type of physio it may help you too. :)

My functional med doc put me on three scoops of type 2 collagen a day.
And yes, you have to be quite careful with stretching..it can actually make it worse.
I didn't do any stretching at all. I did bridges, squats, lunges and all kinnnndsss of leg lifts:)
And another small but hard suggestion...look into the aip diet.
Eliminating all inflammatory foods while you are in pain never hurts.
Side note..just personal trainer stuff:)...and interesting factoids- almost any adult over the age of 40 will show some sort of disc bulge, whether or not they know it. It may or may not be symptomatic. Same goes for disc degeneration, which is just another name for the normal aging that all spines have as we age. Staying active is one of the most important things you can do. I switched to a standing desk and will never go back to a normal desk.
I still have some issues with my back- even though I am a trainer, I have also been in six car accidents (okay, I was NOT the driver! lol)

I got nerve conduction done and looks like my muscles in leg are not firing up that is why my foot drops and struggles.

Doc ordered more injections. The good news that my pain clinic waitlist of 1 to 2years got bumped to few weeks after my nerve test. I should have pain clinic consult by March.

Will it improve beyond half a day? I'm pleased you are receiving some respite.

I've had the flu and it's triggered asthma in me and that's the first time ever I've had that. Coming into my third week of recuperation so my back and hip are really very painful now. It's going to be hard to get moving again and resume pain management via exercise but I've got no alternative.
