I came across this forum during a search and felt this was a great opportunity to engage with fellow combat veterans.
I served on active duty Army from 2002-2005 as a Cavalry Scout in 1/10 CAV 4th ID. I served in Iraq from March 2003-March 2004 and was wounded by a grenade blast during one of our first operations. After finishing my active duty service in 2005, I served with a Scout Platoon in the 11th ACR of the Nevada NG until 2009.
Along with the injuries sustained to my head and face due to the grenade blast, I was diagnosed with PTSD, TBI, and hearing loss.
Personally I feel like my injuries are nothing compared to the many more who suffered far worse injuries, and especially those who gave their life.
I couldn't be more proud to be an American and to have served, and if I had to do it all over again, I would, no second thoughts.
I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone here.
