I take Seroquel XR 150 mg every night. I've taken it for years.

I use it to make my brain "shut up" so I can sleep and think rationally. I am mostly happy with it.

I can't remember the initial side effects. The thing I don't like at all is the weight I have gained and can't seem to lose.

I took it for awhile, for sleep; it knocked me out for too long. I'd suggest backing up 12-14 hours from when you need to be really functional, and call that your bedtime - that's erring on the safe side, but the hangover can be tough if you've never had a drug hangover before.

Thanks @joeylittle I have two small children and was wondering if for the first night we should stay the night where other adults are present, thoughts? As tonight is night one and i have seen folks in the hospital after their initial dose. .makes me nervous :nervous:

If that's an option (to stay around other adults), it certainly wouldn't hurt. Who knows - you might have a very mild response. But you might have a strong response.

Im on seriqueol xr (extended release; no generic). I couldnt handle the immediate release. Its helping A TON to lower my anxiety and extremes of emotions.

I started at its lowest mg (50) and increased that tonce a month so after a month i was on 2 a day then 3 a day and today i just got the next mg up which is 200mg so i went from 150mg a day to 200 mg.

The XR is WONDERFUL for me. But it all depends on what you need it for. Most needed it for sleep, i need it for the day time and as it built up in my system i can say i am VERY happy i gave it a chance.

I will likely land on 200mg or possibly 300mg.

How did your first few nights on seroquel go? I was on it as well- worked like a charm putting me to bed- but the hangover was unbearable for me.

I also disliked the times when I would be kept up due to physical pain or mental anguish, and my body would be so tired and desperate for sleep but unable to. I'm curious to hear how it's been.

Praying for you as well- I just read your most recent post and feel for you. I often sit in my car and wonder about that "nearest bridge." In fact, I was doing this last night, then I somehow snap out of it, decide to go get a slice of pizza, and my car battery had died. I was fuming waiting for AAA. Sending some love and strength for you and the kids.

@VikVikViktorious, that also sounds like immediate release, also known in generic form as quetiapine. I keep saying that as I want people to know there is quetiapine which is immedate release and then there's Seroquel XR, extended release that doesnt give you any "drugged up"- feeling once you give it a lttle tume to get used it.

For me, quetiapine was immpossible to get uses to

Yeah, I think I do have the generic whatever. It feels like a freaking tranquilizer. Maybe I'll ask about the extended release.. Although I have been sleeping a little better lately without anything, so I will just go with that.
