Short Intense Episodes Of Fear

Yes.

When I started to take down a daily log of not only what I was doing, but also how I was feeling and what I thinking a feeling - prior and after this happening, I discovered that sometimes it wasn't so sudden but built up after while until finally it broke through as full blown panic.

If you are reliving a past event as if it is happening right now, then it could be a flashback. If you are living with the memory in your body and/or brain happening in the past and the fear of it happening again, then it may be more of other types of PTSD symptomology.

It could have nothing to do with an external trigger but could be an internal one. Like a thought or feeling. It could also be a sign of your stress cup being full and overflowing and thus having symptoms "randomly" without a specific internal or external trigger.

Yes, I have gotten them. I was plagued with them one summer for the whole summer. I never knew when they would hit next, but sometimes it could be many a day or days between them. I did not know what caused them and still don't, but finally they lessened considerably and I rarely have them now. Usually when I do have them, they are accompanied by worries about the future now, whereas, before, I had no clue as to what triggered them.

I do experience that on a regular basis. Sometimes through some sort of trigger, sometimes it's the stresscup overflowing thing, like @Justmehere said.

I know it was an every day occurance during the onset of my PTSD. It would come in waves, starting in the afternoon and not ending until I finally managed to fall asleep. It was especially terrifying because I didn't know the cause, so I thought I was losing my mind.

These days it's manageable with my daily intake of antidepressants. I am extremely grateful for that.

Are you on any medication? The episodes of fear could also be an unwanted side-effect to a drug. Definitely talk to your doctor and/or therapisr about this, though.

Yes but I've never related it to a trigger for me it starts with a sinking feeling, then a thought, then fear which leads to anxiety and intrusive thoughts.
They last all day until I sleep my last fear episode sent me on a weeks long overdose to rid my mind and body.
As noted above its good to note down where you were, your mood etc.
