Not in the trees. Do you see the small boulder and then 2 big rocks around the trees? directly to the left of the mine entrance?

Step onto one of the stones and search around there. Watch for the prompt to come up, the chest never becomes visible.

Try the windpeak inn, but what they will buy from you but wont be a good price.

The only other shop is The Mortar and Pestle.

I havent found a place to buy a horse yet.

Those are the rocks. It's in somewhere behind the 2 bigs ones.

Every major city has a place. Buy a black horse, they are the fastest. Those are found at whiterun.

You can get shadowmere in the Dark Brotherhood quest line.
