Yep, I found out my calling is to become a psych nurse. That's the plan, anyway. I want to go on to complete a Masters in Mental Health Nursing after I finish my undergraduate degree.

And I am someone who didn't finish high school. I didn't finish and or pass yr 8, yr 9, yr 10, or yr 11 (for some reason they let me go up in grades but my mental health was so bad, I couldn't plus moving around a lot, my parents played hot potato with me).

I am an undiagnosed Autistic person (Aspergers/Autism 1) with diagnosed CPTSD and diagnosed Dissociative Disorder, from childhood and adult trauma.

In 2010, I got out of a very abusive relationship I'd been trapped in since I was 16, with a man, twice my age.

I applied to unversity, then, on a whim, because of someone I was hanging out with then (a much younger man, for a short while, while I was homeless).

Not thinking, at all, that I would get in, because, of my appalling school record. I applied to do an Arts degree and because I had a lot of musical experience, in the field, they let me in. I was very surprised!!!

It was a long journey. Because I was homeless at the time, and very unwell, not to mention, I didn't know how to do university level schooling, I bailed at that time. But went back to start a "preparing for success" bridging course, there instead, a bit later.

Then, I applied to study Mental Health Peer Work, at a nearby Adult Education (small) school and got in, despite the overwhelming numbers of applicants.

I eventually went back.to my Arts degree after a bunch of (mostly volunteer) peer work jobs and mental health advocacy and reform activism, forums, musical work combined (wrote a Peer Work song, and had a band with fellow students and one client of a band member~ who was also a support worker), we performed at varous mental health events.

I tried to get through the Arts degree, but something wasn't right. I, then, switched to do a degree in Social Work, but that didnt fit either.

Finally, I left, discouraged and my own mental health plummeted.

After a few years of intensive therapy, inpatients admissions, a religious yoga routine and much soul searching, I finally realised my dream job is to work with people in crisis, in inpatients, and, eventually, hopefully,. to bring my own love of creative practise and yoga practise into my mental heath work, by training in Arts therapy, as well and perhaps yoga teaching and to be able to offer these alongside my peer work /mental health nursing practise.

So today, I am a little further along in my dream, because they are letting me in to study nursing!!! :):):)
Congratulations Mums:)))
