I have found that listening to certain types of music for relaxation, healing, meditation etc helps me to reconnect with inner peace. I don't usually recommend websites for others but I have found sequoiarecords.com to be an invaluable resource for the type of music that is peaceful, and soothing and which enhances meditation and healing. My therapist taught me some self-hypnosis techniques that work wonderfully in combination with this music and I highly recommend it for anyone who suffers stress and/or depression especially those of us that carry the burden of PTSD. If you visit this site click on the heading for healing music and sample the Cd's that are available. There is also a free MP3 download page with half a dozen pieces of music. If you use music with other stress techniques I would love to hear about them and how they help you.

Hi,

Thanks for this post about music. I wanted to say that I found some music which invariably soothes me. Perhaps it's not for everyone :) but believe it or not my mother gave me a CD of Gregorian Monks chants and for whatever reason it gives me peace! I'd have never thought of it but gave it a try. I'm glad I did.

I'll check out the web site, and thank you! After realizing such an unlikely CD as Monks' Chants was so soothing I'd love to try another suggestion!

Take care,

Anni

Hi Lion,
I also used the same blanket when ever I needed to listen to something to calm down. When I would have panic attacks etc I would wrap the blanket tight around me like a hug. The history I had of using the blanket when I listened to music came in handy when I only had the blanket in the hospital-like an extension of the music. My old Mexican horse blanket has been on many journeys with me and not one of them under a saddle!

20 years ago I used to listen to Kitaro, and loved it. Thanks for the thread, I think I might just reinvest in some of his music again. I really liked it, and found it quite relaxing......

I did visit the site you suggested and like some of that music as well.....

Hello Lion , :hello:

Thanks for that information. Recently, since being on my course at college, I have found that I work really well with classical music on in the background at a low volume, when at home writing my assignments. I listen to BBC Radio 3 here in England as it only plays classical. I know that much has been said about studying to classical music in the past, but I never found it applied to me until now.

This week is a special Purcell week with pieces being played on the radio composed by him and also by his contemporaries. I have found it soothing and calming and bearing in mind how awfully intrusive my symptoms have been this week, it's really helped me.

I hope that you can find other music to relax you, and it's also nice that you can broaden your knowledge of music out there by writing on the forum.

I have downloaded some music from the site and it is really relaxing - thanks!

I use guided meditations at night to help me sleep. I just put them on and follow along until I drift off .... I rarely hear the end of them :) I find that they give my mind something to concentrate on which stops the incessant chatter in my head, just enough for me to drift off. They are also very relaxing and get you to relax muscles too ... all round good experience!
