Starting Prolotherapy For Cmp

Thank you Albatross.

The goal is to get the adhesions (in leg, lumbar) to let go, and then begin helping the muscles to do their job, by making them stronger in the weight room.

I actually did get a lot of relief from rolfing. I had abdominal adhesions (maybe still do but got relief so I didn't pursue the exploratory surgery) and also sacral and cervical issues. But your course of treatment is way more involved than what I went through. I am though much improved and am following along with you as you go through your treatments James.

Hi Albatross,

When I first tried this process (the process of making my muscles stronger/less imbalanced) about 4 years ago, Rolfing was front line treatment. And I think it was very beneficial, before the weightlifting. This time, because the myfascial adhesions (both leg and lumbar) are so severe, the more 'invasive' therapies like acupuncture/prolotherapy, seem appropriate.

Yes, Prolotherapy sounded somewhat extreme at first. Then realized my problems really were/are severe, and I need it! LOl. Thank you for commenting. the life of a chronic pain sufferer gets kinda boring, but I have much to be thankful for. Like all the support from everyone here, my very good doc, and a nice place to live.

No therapy this week, doc was down from family tragedy - hope he's alright. Leg is the same; better w/ inflammation down but, you know how it is. Take something like tendonitis; stiff and sore after the inflammation's gone cause that's when the tissue is healing. Must be something like this with myofasical adhesions. Emotionally I feel pretty well adjusted, and doing alright.

Another awesome major session with acupuncture, acupuncture w/ electro-stim, and prolotherapy injections this PM.

We scheduled some exploratory massage with his resident massage magician. Plus, my doc and I spoke of hyperbaric (oxygen) treatments also. I called a local place that does this, it's not far from here. Going to go over there, then see about the right way to lean on Anthem to pay. Hyperbaric treatment come in a ten set, about $1k.

Glad to hear that the prolotherapy is working. I've heard that it doesn't do anything for some people but works wonders for others. I have CMP and fibromyalgia. It totally sucks.

The day after therapy, my leg was more sore, like a bruise. Today it feels less bound up, more free working. The swatch of surgical adhesions on my backside (effecting glutes) still needs dealing w/, also.

Bit by freaking bit.

Dear Javagoat. I can only imagine how having fibro on top of CMP must feel. I can sure relate to how it must totally suck, and I am very sorry you're afflicted with this. And welcome to the forum.

Yesterday, another master blaster session on the leg w/ full acupuncture, acupuncture w/ electro-stim, and prolotherapy injections. Deep and penetrating. Some residual soreness today.

Last week's session really loosened up the knee, had very good 'range-of-motion' water workout, 6 days after. Leg stayed unsettled and achy for 5 days, then it (pain and stiffness) lifted, quite suddenly.

Am feeling somewhat more optimistic.

Javagoat...sorry for my clumsy reply. Hope you're doing alright.

Hi James, Where are you at with the possibility of going through with and receiving hyperbaric treatment?

Hello goingonhope, I still have to go over there and investigate if there's a way to get insurance to pay: have been late doing this, foot dragging. It's interesting stuff though. In terms of logical sequence, for me it may be more correct to introduce the deep tissue/hands on, so his massage person can work w/ him, and tell him about what she finds.

I would like to do the hyperbaric treatment, or try it, though. I hope I can.

Today, another spectacular party with many needles in my legs, hip and rear. Electricity flowed and I drifted. Injections today seemed deeper and more directly into certain trigger points. Doc even had to remind me to breath. He don't fool around. "Breath, breath, breath..." lol

Some hot tub floating and many prolonged moments of blank thoughts, await. The game is to relax the mind/body enough so the (injured) tissues own defenses can let it's guard down. Then let the doc do the rest; he's adding deep tissue massage on a separate day, also.
