Stopped Taking Meds Due To Nightmares

I have been on lots of meds through the years mostly Prozac and Zolft but I had to stop taking them due to vivid and strange nightmares. Has this happened to anyone else? :think:

I have very strange/scary nightmares but I never thought my meds might be the cause of it... I wonder...

PTSD itself can cause anxiety-laden nightmares. There is a medication called minipress (also known as Prazosin), that can help you with PTSD related Nightmares. To more specifically answer your question; I used to take Prozac and did not have any strange nightmares due to the medication, but I suppose it is possible.

I went through a spell of very vivid, strange and even violent dreams when on a few occasions I woke to find myself attacking my wife. Both me and the T thought this was another symptom of the ptsd, yet I was on Prozac at the time so who knows...maybe!!

Hi everyone, It's been about six months since I stopped taking zolf, at about 4 months the very vivid and strange nightmares stopped. Now I am afraid to start taking anything else. I am going to not take any thing for as long as I can. NIKI

Just over a month ago I had gone on Remeron which caused nightmares. I didn't see how this happening was going to work out, but then after just about 1 wk. the nightmares stopped. Then about 4 wks. later I went off the med for other reasons. Outside of this I haven't been having many nightmares at all. Also, never was on Zoloft, but Prozac yes, ...yet extremely brief because with it came sudden violent impulses.

My nightmares went on for years. Finally I just told the doctor I could not take it anymore! Now I am afraid to try anything else. After 6 months off the meds, I still have some dreams but not the vivid/strange scary nightmares

I tried to go back on Prozac after being off for about 10 months. The nightmares started right up again. I am not going to take them.
