Random crying for no good reason
This is so healthy. . .you are releasing it when you cry! You are doing the right things. It is going to pass, I know when we are in the midst of it. . .it's gets so overwhelming, so powerful, so exhausting, so scary. . . but these sensations and feelings do pass. Cry as much as your body/eyes let you. It's a release that is needed.

Hey Charlie, get your pal to lay down beside you (best after a walk, and dinner). Synchro breathing. Fireworks (massive for me, gunshots, for her too). They have not stopped where I am, and can come at any time.

Found best for both of us in this tiny plywood cabin is to lay on the dark grey wool rug (center of the studio cabin) temp is the coolest, and two doors can close (bathroom and kitchen). We lay down. Hard to get her at first she has to protect everything going chaos. Not just immediate real threats perceived. Real processing of them PTSD dog (how do I tell her that it is just illegal fireworks and gunshots for whooo hooooo f**kr's more interested in their premature ejaculation than drought) I have to tell my self an her over an over it is OK. We are safe. Get my heart beat down, lay my arm along (not across) her back and try to snooze. Eventually we do ,,, let it… pass…
 
There are some days I simply call a snow day. There are some days I simply zombie-out and the lights are on but nobody is home. Why I choose one over the other? Excitement, usually. If I can call up even a scarp of excitement over calling a snow day and throwing in the towel (relief! LOL. Yeah. Relief is exciting for me) I'll do that. If it's jus going to suck as much in pointA as pointB? Unless I'm causing harm I'm gonna have to sort out later, I zombie through.

Personally? When I realize I'm not accomplishing anything, IF I can, I take the rest of the day off. I haven't gotten to the point where I've called a client and cancelled "just because". There have been a couple of times when something looked like it was going to be a big project and I didn't feel like I could do it justice when I HAVE said "Let's do this another day." People have generally been ok with that.

I have a hard time cutting myself any slack without also beating myself up for being lazy or what ever. That's not real useful either. It does seem like there are times when taking a "mental health day" is a good thing. Sounds like you might have been having one of those. Everybody, probably even "normal" people have off days. And maybe "rest" is something that helps avoid the rabbit hole.
