Last session one of the things I talked about with my therapist was whether or not I may be in the prodromal stages of schizophrenia (earliest stage of the disorder, symptoms start to appear but the person still has lucidity and is aware they are experiencing weird things, vs full-blown schizophrenia the person loses all lucidity during episodes generally resulting in hospitalization)

She said it was good that I didn't think anyone in my family had had it. I'm nervous about that because I hardly know anything about my family past my grandparents, and mental health isn't talked about so who really knows the history there? But she couldn't say that I didn't have it, and she told me it might be good to consider preliminary treatment. (You start antipsychotics early and that helps prevent full blown schizophrenia from ever developing) If I do have schizophrenia it wouldn't become clear until my mid to late 20's or even my 30's. I am very scared of developing this. I would much rather have psychotic depression than schizophrenia. I don't know what to do.

Anti-paychotics might not be so bad...a lot of the newer a-typical anti-psychotics are used to treat depression and anxiety. I've got no paychosis issues going on, but I'd be a right mess without my seroquel...:O_o:

I actually found out a couple days ago that at medium doses seroquel qualifies as an antidepressant rather than an antipsychotic. You need higher doses of it to get AP properties.

I'll talk more with my therapist about it next week.
