Study Study On Treating Ptsd With Mdma

Here are two papers, the first is on the use of MDMA (and the history of it) for psychotherapy (http://psy.swansea.ac.uk/staff/parrott/parrott2007-MDMA-Psychotherapy-Psychopharmacology.pdf), the other is a trial with women with PTSD ([DLMURL]http://www.maps.org/mdma/spain_MDMA_JOPD.pdf[/DLMURL]). The fact that MDMA can have a serotoninergic action (post-use or post-chronic use) might be an issue with the widespread adoption of SSRI's, but there are bigger issues that would stop it (the DEA scheduling it, over the protests of the psychotherapists, et al, in the same class as Heroin & Cocaine for one).

If anybody is still interested in this topic there was a televised study on Channel 4 (British Television) a couple of months ago called "Drug Trial Live: The Ecstasy Trial". The focus is not on PTSD specifically however one of the participants is a sufferer of PTSD and she had some pretty impressive results. They also show and explain in layman's terms the impact and effect on the brain/mental attitude and physical well being which personally I found easy to follow with no medical background whatsoever.

There are also debates for the use of MDMA and a small amount of research into it's use on the streets. This trial is located online for free streaming from the Channel 4 website.

I've heard about this from a concerned friend. I am reluctant to even take prescription medication, but if this could be a one time thing with one time side affects it could possibly be really helpful for people? I noticed what some one else above posted about having to stay somewhere with some one that they didn't know, and for me that would be an issue too. Very interested in reading more about it and hearing what kind of trials are done.

Here are some relative information research papers and blog from David Nutt who conducted the trial :0

hope this helps

I would not recommend taking street ecstacy because in a lot of cases the pills do not actually contain any mdma but other poisons ect. Pure mdma is in crystal form but even then should be taken with someone experienced and very trusted and in small amounts.

Hope this helps

I don't understand why they don't try sassafras instead. It's basically the same thing only less intense (in flooding your brain with chemicals and overwhelming receptors) and a much cleaner high, no crash, easy come-down. >.<

Never heard of it before so did some research. :)

sassafras contains Safrole which is a precursor for the clandestine manufacture of the drug MDMA, as well as the drug MDA (3-4 methylenedioxyamphetamine) and as such, its transport is monitored internationally.

High doses of safrole is also a carciogenic and causes permanent liver damage and some cancers.

I have no idea how to manufacture MDA, do you? ;)

Thank for sharing info MissAS :)

Best wishes
Saffy :)

I dunno, @saffy , although if you have a good undergrad in chemistry it's apparently easy to make pure MDMA if you have the right connections in the chem world for a few base substances.

Wait Sassafras as in the stuff that Root Beer is meant to taste of? Are there any studies of it being taken in healthy doses so as not to be carcinogenic? I know also that people can take turmeric for depression. Thats proven to actually help. If I could find a way to use only herbs etc to get well, I WILL!

MDMA was developed during reserach into anti-depressents.......looks like they finally found a truly effective anti-depressent and decided lets not pursue this route any more its much too effective.

As far as I know there are no anti depressants that have used insights gained from this drugs effectiveness as a means functioning..

SSRI's are totally different and possibly just sugar pills with side effects

I know this isn't the same drug, but was curious if it was the same chemical that is found in mushrooms and was wondering if I should start a separate post for this body of research that is starting to come out along those lines. I thought it was interesting and I believe that its a university in Florida that has released this research. I tried to post the link here but it won't allow me. Its easily googlable though.
