Sudden Death Of Father & Now Feeling Distant From Fiancee

Hello,

I was wondering if someone else has experienced this.

I lost my father in an accident 2 years ago. Now I have suddenly been experiencing a strange feeling towards my fiancee.

I have been experiencing sudden bursts of anxiety along with the feeling that I have lost all love for my fiancee. I know that it's not real, logically it cant be real because it came on suddenly, and when I am not having my anxiety attacks I everything is normal and I love him like I have always done.

Is this something that happens with PTSD?

Thanks,
Kimberlie

Absolutely. I feel that way about everyone in my life when I'm anxious - I can't tell if I even care anymore or not. Just remember that it's the PTSD talking and to only make decisions when you're in the right space. Otherwise, don't worry.

Kimberlie,

What you describe is familiar to me and I think it has to do with losing a loved one. Often when we lose someone close we tend to worry even more about the other people close to us, we worry about losing them. In a way your feeling of ‘not feeling love’ might be your way of trying to distance yourself from him in case something happens to him because you don’t want to hurt like you hurt when you lost your dad. I truly think it is a part of the grieving process and will get easier.
