Taking Back My Life After Abuse, Ideas?

I asked a couple of people on ideas of how to feel better and ensure that I would stay on my own after I move significantly far away from my abuser. So I made a little list, and I wanted to see if anyone had anything to add to it. For reference, this is my dad-- and I'm choosing tactile things but ALSO intangible things are welcome too! But tactile things are so important for me, since I want to be grounded. I want to mention that I don't want anything BIG in these categories but my dad always said he would NEVER let me do ANY OF this.

-cutting my hair, styling, dying it the way i want
-piercings
-tattoos
-eating the food that i want to eat
-wearing the clothes i want to wear
-wearing the makeup that i want
-exercising how i like (dancing)

Really like your list ! As women, this is part of the way we express our selves and it represents freedom.. Reinventing your self with self expression !!! Love it...

I think it's a great list you wrote, and I think you should do everything on it, at your own pace of course :)
Maybe it can help you to find a place in the world of today, and to show others who you really are!

Good luck

Great idea to make this list :)
Maybe you could add finding support for yourself, maybe finding out if there are support groups you can join or finding online support?

How about just simply you are an adult and can do ANYTHING YOU WANT! Not sure that helps as when i was 18 to about 24ish i went WILD...had my crazy teens in my 20s. About the time i got clean off coke i decided to mature a bit...but just a bit lol :P :wacky:

I mostly need to move the abusers out of my head, everything else is secondary from that point.

In which self compassion and finding where exactly does responsibility lie help a lot.
Also hearing from other people I'm not like these fellas.
