Terminal Illness And Acceptance

@Lionheart777 Reading your post about your lung function, we are just about at the same level. 1/3 loss. My oxygen level is a bit higher per than yours, mine was 96 at the dr last week. I'm thinking maybe because I work, and my job is physical. I clean houses, so I'm up and down stairs, lifting things, and running around like an idiot sometimes trying to get it done so I can go home and crash.

This had me thinking..... Does your local hospital offer pulmonary rehab classes???? One of ours does, but it's during the hours that I work, so I couldn't attend. It's a great place to go. They show you effective exercises to make you use your lungs, they teach you breathing exercises. They teach you even how food choices will also help.

I've had drs tell me to KEEP moving, and don't stop working. As it keeps the lungs active and moving.

Just another thought....

Ok. I live in a small small city. But we have a teaching hospital that offeres a ton of stuff. All sorts of different rehabs, for just about any disorder out there... good luck!!!

I was going to edited this and advise about PG and VG as I did advise about it earlier in the thread.

I had written it fast.
Consider posting when you have time? No-one is standing over your shoulder saying that there's a time limit and you must post now. There's time.

But based on your posts earlier in the thread, you don't understand the composition. Yes, you're aware that they use propelyne glycol and veg. glycerine, but as two different consumer options.
Also learn about PG vs VG. You can google it, youtube it....lots of people talk about it as it really makes a difference depending on your preferences. I learned by buying small amounts of each juice and trying them all out to see what I prefer.
Neither is less of an issue, in terms of lung impact - which I'm hoping you're maybe taking on-board as info as well, because you clearly are a big proponent of vaping, and it's not correct to believe that it's toxin-free. You are not inhaling water vapor.
You just arent used to inhaling water vapor.
It's water vapor.
That cough is normal at first for a few days to get used to water vapor instead of cig smoke.
all it is is nicotine and water.
Some fluids are purely PG, some (I believe) purely VG, and some a mix - they are all subject to the issues that occur depending on temperature, they do turn into toxins, and it's not water vapor.
Although I would prefer to vape cannabis oil, it is bit cost prohibitive for me. However that being said, I know a guy who was in horrible condition in the hospital for severe COPD that used the oil, got off all of his COPD meds, and is now doing great and looks and functions at a higher level (no pun intended).
I don't know a ton about this - but I think you don't need the oil, specifically, you can use bud.
Vaping Weed: How Safe Is It?
How the Rise of the Vaporizer Is Changing Pot Culture

If you are going to be using pot, regardless of whether it's medically legal in your state, you should absolutely (given your lung issues) switch to a vape method.

And something that has made a big difference for me, just as a smoker - when I forbid smoking inside, I smoke so much less, it's really one step away from quitting.

Because you and your sister are both dealing with this - that's a rule you might consider adopting, even with a vaporizer.

And to try and avoid the more serious toxins, don't vape your fluid at a high heat. You're still getting stuff that is poorly studied into your lungs, but you will have a better chance of avoiding the formaldehyde, at least.

it's not correct to believe that it's toxin-free.

I wasn't advising it was toxic free. I was advising that it helped me stop smoking cigs. That it was the only thing that would. That it doesn't have smoke and 101 chemicals in it as cigs do. And that I had a bad smokers cough and weezed all the time (likey mostly from inhalants) and that a few months on a nicotine vaporizer, I had no cough and stopped weezing completely per the Dr.

I was not stating it is good to vap for someone with COPD. I am stating it is better then smoking. That's all.

I absolutely will do that as I found out tonight that I cannot smoke pot anymore. I will need to ingest it or vape and I think vaping, from what I understand, is a preferred method among patients with COPD.

I really do appreciate your support and thanks for helping me further educate myself (links).

Peace,
Lion

I don't know what kind of dumb ass drs. here where I live. I have not been referred to pulmonary specialist after last May when my breathing test showed 48 %, borderline air trapping, marked decrease in diffusion capacity, and good response to bronchodilator therapy. I have a rescue inhaler only, no bronchodilator therapy. Was told in ER that i have end stage COPD. They have been giving me Adderoll so I can do physical labor for past several yrs until I can't anymore.-that ended in March when I crashed at 94 pounds. Im exhausted. Also learned in ER of node on lung and aortic aneurism. No treatments offered this far. Same as no treatment for pain, ptsd, or anything else. Hell maybe I don't have ptsd. Its hard to believe anything the medical profession does here anymore. (more insurance company)

Whatever you do Lionheart, it has to be better than the smoke. Even if the vaping is for a transitional period, you know your strengths and limits the best. This may be the hardest thing to ever have to do.

I found an e-liquid or 'juice' that is mild enuff for me to use; 'very berry' or something like that...got it from my sister. I am vaping on it now.

On another note: I am totally looking into either making or somehow acquiring cannabis oil to vape to treat COPD and PTSD. I am very serious about this!!! I think that as a chronically ill and possibly, terminally ill patient, I have a right to use the method of healing that I feel will serve me best.

I have made some friend / connections to people "in the know" and will pursue this with all the gusto of a hound dog!!! It may be controversial and in need of more research but I cannot afford to wait or pass up a chance to heal myself since people are having great success with it.

If vaping doesn't work I will turn to making edibles and I am seriously considering moving to a state with medical cannabis laws already in place.

Also in case edibles don't work, I hear that some people are actually juicing the herb and drinking it for their health. However, I am not a dull person, I will proceed with caution and due diligence. experimenting till I find the best method for me.

Whatever I end up doing, I am so very grateful to all of you for the support and @brat17 my friend, I hope you get the help you need as well. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for whatever it may be worth. You are a good person and you deserve proper health care no matter what!!!

Peace,
Lion
