Thanks For Chat And People Using It

Thank you so much for the ability to chat.

Last night, I was very freaked out here alone at our campsite 4km down a very muddy gravel road in S Africa. The people who were renting the campsite were supposed to come at 7pm. By 8pm, it was very dark and the only cell phone number I had for them said, "This number does not exist".

My boss (and I) don't want me to stay here at the campsite overnight by myself. (They broke in 27 times in 3 years--while very few or no people were here.) I also couldn't go home because the road was so terrible in the daytime--I wouldn't dare take it at night. Plus, the people camping here could have come.

In the end, friends Helena (briefly), Nicky31 and JohnnyM53 were in chat and encouraging me until they came about 9pm. Even though the 80 teens were awake until 3.30am and woke up at 6am, at least it was better than being alone on these huge grounds.

Thank you for this wonderful capability and the wonderful people who care on this forum.

Thanks. I am new here and didn't know about 'chat'. I'll check it out. I also want to comment on the locations of people here with Traumatic Stress conditions. I spent years in isolation, not by choice, and many more by choice in a completely unpopulated area. I am on the East Coast right now and trying to learn how to live in this culture.

I was only able to thank this post from my phone the other day, but wanted to post on here too.

It's wonderful how many different purposes we can find for chat here. You were one of the first people I spoke to on my first day, so let's just say it's my way of saying thanks for making me feel so welcome. If there was ever the need to do it again though, I would.
