I'm chiming in a little late, but I truly loved this book. I found it to be a great piece of literature, as well as a wonderful story. It quickly rose to my top ten favorites of all time. I also saw the movie after reading. A poster above mentioned always being disappointed in the movie, and I am the same way. However, if you do see the movie, go into it viewing the book and movie as separate and you will find both to be excellent in their respective genres.
I finished the book a few months ago, but still remember one moving line that still keeps me thinking:
They were French, they were Jews, and they were you.
I give the book five stars!
