I found this article interesting.

I, myself, am bitter at the lack of action of the outgoing pope on the child sexual abuse by the clergy. I feel that he missed a tremendous opportunity to tell the truth. I find it most disturbing.

Personally I am glad that he resigned. I wish it could have been in shame for his ongoing role before he became the pope. I cannot abide the cover ups and the lies.

In the circles I move in the details in the below article have been throughly discussed.

There are many, many survivors of child sexual abuse by the clergy in Australia. It is quite appalling.

I used to work for the Jesuits. Some of what I saw was terrible. There were Fathers who stopped working the instant it was 4 pm, no matter if "a troubled soul" was begging and pleading for help. Of course, at 4 pm there was coffee-time and he couldn't be bothered, he wanted his coffee and cake.

The worst thing though was a younger Father who later became the head of the department I'm talking about. He watched porn on the computer in his office. It was normal in the office that doors were open and you knocked and then entered. Unfortunately, that one time, he wasn't fast enough to close the webpage. He tried, but swivelled his mouse around and didn't seem to hit the "x" properly. I saw the whole thing. He also gave away several times (seemingly without realising doing so) how he enjoyed South-American young sexy girls...

The (catholic) church has a share in my abuse. I have never seen people with more denial and more inner urge to control. What's that got to do with the question is that I think that popehood should be abolisehd.

Many years ago, somewhere in the US, as far as I remember, a priest abused children and was then sent away to work in a kindergarten of another parish! It made me so mad! People in the US, too, and so they found out that there were quite a few priests who abused children. Sorry, I can't quote any article or so, that was so long ago. But that was the reason I left the church.
