"There is No Cure."

In Canada at least, the concept is 'wellness'- a person's greatest capacity across all dimensions, physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively, spiritually (not meaning religion necessarily, but feeling your life has meaning). So, technically, a physically ill person could still be more 'well' that someone without a disease or disorder, within the parameters of what is their best.

After all, most diseases have no cure, most at best have management as the only realistic goal.

I think that the unexpressed emotion or fear can be, "Is this as good as it gets? When it gets worse, is that the new normal? What if it is not enough for me, not worth it? What does this mean, to my present or future, is there even a way to get a new normal?", etc. That sort of thing (personal meaning, doubts, fears, exhaustion etc).

I think if there was hope for a cure, maybe (we) wouldn't work so hard, maybe we'd just hold on to waiting for a surgery, or a drug, or a treatment? (Not that I'm against any of those, just nothing all-encompassing exists. Which really is a downer if that'is what is focused on, though saying there is a cure is sort of, well, denial, to me. But, symptoms or difficulty can wax and wane, and some people make great progress.)

JMHO though.
