Personally, I think what she said was done very respectfully and was intelligent and informative without judging. What she said made much more sense considering your ego is literally not something you can kill off.

Cypress is he, as far as I know, but yes. What you said.

@maryiscontrary, we are peers, in here. Introducing where one is coming from, & disagreeing, does not equal disrespect.

Furthermore, the points made were not out of wishing to hurt you...
They were a very honest reflection on motivations, out of a wish to help you.

Please keep that in mind.

they just do not have the stress-related modernized illnesses that we do.

Matter of fact, this is flawed line of thinking, logically & factually.

Logically: Not in the same conditions. Change the environs, you get the same disorders, & worse.
Factually: Here is where that changed conditions comes in. Just look at lives of Natives in Canada, & the US. The rates of alcoholism to deal with would be civilization, and all.

It is, also, preaching to the choir / assuming background of way many in here.

I welcome all of your opinions! this is the part that I found disrespectful.

"I worry, as others have pointed out, that ego dissolution may actually be suicidal ideation and not some Carlos Castaneda psychedelic enlightenment trip."

I find that this is just not the case. And I am working on killing that ego and thanks for everybody for pointing out useful information. And again she was speaking from her own perspective and I was speaking from my own. But I think that there's a lot of ego in a lot of these comments as well. But I thank you all, and this will help me further abolish my egotism.

Oh but I'm not talking about the natives in North America who have been systematically destroyed. No I'm talking about the natives here in South America who are still living like they did 500 years ago or more. This is where I think the confusion was. I'm talking about intact native Indian communities, and not those that are on the verge of extinction because of genocide in North America. I'm talking about specifically the I specifically the US and Canada. Indeed, the indigenous who live in the Amazon and this particular country that I am in are healthier than the more westernized citizens of said country. They're not in denial about this, in fact they're rather proud. They're proud not to have diabetes, heart disease, and the mental illness rate that we have. I think that this is where the confusion was.

I think there is way more than just geography that’s causing the differences in opinion here. Did you ever look at the links I sent ya?

*****edited to add, it was only one link. On the second page of this thread.

And yes it was disrespectful to imply that I'm on some Carlos Castaneda trip. That is projection. Plus Carlos Castaneda had anglophile North American biases and was very self-indulgent. I'm just talkin about my own experience. And you can take it or leave it as well.
